PLEASE NOTE:
Qrisk is a very helpful way of assessing
your risk of having a heart attack or stroke over the next 10
years.
Unfortunately, it has come to our attention
the tool previously attached to this website was faulty.
If you have used this website in the last
year to calculate your risk, we advise you to go to http://qrisk.org to assess your risk
again.
NHS Health Checks are being offered to people aged between 40
and 74 once every five years.
The check is to assess your risk of developing heart disease,
stroke, kidney disease or diabetes. If there are any warning signs,
then together we can do something about it.
What does it involve?
The Check takes 20-30 minutes and asks simple questions about
your health including family history, age and gender. Measurements
such as weight, height and blood pressure are taken and you may
also have your cholesterol checked.
Using these details they will be able to calculate your personal
risk and give you a health plan and advice about what you can do to
reduce your risk and stay healthy.
Where can I get one?
You can have a check at your GP surgery. Some community
organizations are doing them too:
